Knights of Cydonia-Muse Cover Comp
This is my entry for the Muse Cover Comp. Not much else to say. :-P Any feedback would be helpful as this is the first in a long line of covers that I will be submitting. Enjoy.

Clock Speed : Right, but I don't actually have the rom, I just have a cartridge with lsdj on it.
Oh also, my drums have been pretty much finished since Friday. I'm thinking I may mess with the toms more still.

Beware : Use VBA or some other emulator. Then you can use the file and edit whatever you want and then send it back to me so I can see what you did. I gotta edit my save a little bit, but I'll try to send it along soon.

Clock Speed : If I had a way of using the sav file or saving my own I could...

Beware : Well, I used my PSP to create it then did the recording in VBA. I'll send you my save file later today, that way you can get it all the match.

Clock Speed : I can't get the tempo to match yours. Is there any chance you messed with the tempo in parts, or recorded this from something other than a DMG?

Clock Speed : I found that it works to just use a combination of the sampled 909 and 707 bass drums, and turn everything else down around it.

Sparkyboy : Hmm cool cover, but it needs more umph in my opinion. It lacks that epic power. I think partly the drums need to more umph. But one a whole good start, but it needs refinement. With my Plug In Baby Cover I messed about many a day trying to get that same epic umph that Muse has.

ElectricAlchemist : This is damn fine but I felt like it could have been better, it was lacking that umph, that punch, that just drives the song! Fantastic job though :) there are some parts that give me goosebumps haha :D

pokemon posers : @ white circuit: that "shaky" XD sound is vibrato.

Beware : Definitely Clock Speed. I can send you my crappy save file for the drums if you want (I did a separate recording for three different parts) if you would like. I believe the tempo is set at 135. Go nuts. Maybe I'll revamp it with vocals and your drum track.

Hurrigame Boy : yeah was cool.. i would love to hear some legato and glides in there!

SkyLabrynth : nicceee!! ohhh god my comp got eaten up by a virus the otherday:( all software gone:( im well up for trying newborn aswell, sooo anyone gonna rise to the challenge?? cos its an awesome one!

Clock Speed : Mind if I have a stab at doing my own version of the drums and see how it works with yours other parts? (Hint: what's your tempo?)
at October 16th 2008, 10:08 PM
Beware : Clock Speed: Totally agree about the drums, but I'm terrible at creating drums. =_=;; Maybe I'll revisit this when I get better.
White Circuit: Yeah, but much shakier made it sound a little ridiculous. The actual track uses a technique known as tremolo picking. It involves picking up and down extremely quickly. It's hard to get using a V command. I'll try to perfect that. I also kind of wanted vocals, but my buddy thought it might be better if it were entirely chiptune. Don't worry, there may be a cover coming soon with some vocals. ^_^
Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Clock Speed : Very nice melodically. However, I think the noise could definitely have had more variation, and probably been a bit louder. The drums are definitely what drives the original.
at October 16th 2008, 06:11 PM
White Circuit : didn't sound as "shaky" (in the beginning) as the original, but this is incredible Beware. kind of hoped for vocals in it...but still.

Beware : This is 3 layers of LSDJ. One for vocals, one for guitar/bass/keyboard, and one for drums.
