atarimatt : Actually I only use 2 ataris running two reprogrammed beat tracks at the same time so I can basically get 4 loops together. No midi at all...I've never gotten into midi. All the volume swells and panning are done after the fact for the recordings. Live its a different game and ends up much more raw.
And I do intentionally do some unconventional tuning :) With the synthcart you can get some really cool effects from phazing by running the same notes from the two different channels at the same time or droping one of the notes just a bump.
Sometimes the best sounds come from trying to make the hardware error on purpose.

atarimatt : The off tuning and clipping were intentional. Makes it sound very unsmooth and gritty.

atarimatt : If you can't stand the pitch, then get out da kitch-en!

Fameboy : Something about the noise channel's hum and depressing chords that I really enjoy about this.

B00daW : atarimatt: #1, you're awesome. #2 though it seems like you aren't telling a heck of a lot about your process. my guess is synthcart + midi. i personally use slocum's music sequencer and know i can't pull of the same volume tricks and quad-channel sound like that. in fact, this music is more like having 2 atari 2600's, right? ;P secondly, don't say the off-tuning is intentional like you're putting effort toward making the tia detuned. :D hahaha! good show. keep'em coming, and perhaps make some true dual-channel tia tunes too, plz! :D
