dot.Fortune : Hey DAM do you have aim?
at March 2nd 2008, 05:36 PM

DarkAndMartyr : ye i understand, iv always been about the musical quality, sound effects are jst ear canddy and should only be used in moderation, thats a basic rule i production school i think... hahaha

dot.Fortune : To transition this point into a medium I am heavilly involed in, Grahpic Design, I think that there is tremendous skill required to produce works in MS paint but I dont think people should be cast aside for using photoshop. When working with MS paint it really challenges you to examine the fundamentals of art and design and doesnt allow you to hide your inexperiance with filters and fancy layer styles. As long as you work in 16 bit just remember to rely on your understanding of music and composition and then add special effx on it to enhance. If you can deliver a quality tune in 16 bit make sure it could be just as effective in 8 bit.

DarkAndMartyr : yeah same here, but sabrepulse has always put alot of modernisation into his tracks, his drums are like break jungle. i think that hes a sample freak like me. but the limitation factor on the other hand i agree with completely, how to make music with what you've gt, as i say in my 'bio' i make all types of genre of music and im doin something at the moment wher i js record anything with mic and make music out of it V experimental. im glad i found u on here ur a sound dude

dot.Fortune : On the other hand limiting yourself can demonstrate a true mastery. For example to listen to some of the great chiptune guys out there like Sabrepulse, homesweet and xinon you get the feeling that they have such a strong grasp on what is and isnt great music and how to create it.(the great music that is.) I have no doubt that the accomplished LSDJ and nanoloop artists could transition into traditional techno or even become great classical composers. I understand this is a bit much for the comment section but I am passionate about chiptunes and art in general.

DarkAndMartyr : i read ye lol, some good insite ther thank you. its js alot of peopel use only LSDJ an stuff like dt, which ye is cool but as much as i love the simplistic lo-fi sound i prefer to make my music abit deeper... oh ye i read ye on the'don't' thing haha

dot.Fortune : * I think establishing.......omit the dont part from my last post.
at March 2nd 2008, 04:06 PM

dot.Fortune : I dont think establishing certain requirements for what is and what isnt chiptunes can be harful to artists. If its sound stays true to the roots then I dont think bits really matter. I think its up to what you as the artist believe is the best way to get your point across and whether that be 8 bits 16 bits or 69 bits continue doin what your doin cuz no one can do it like you.
at March 2nd 2008, 04:04 PM

DarkAndMartyr : hahaha ye man, so do u think that 16 bit music is acceptable on this site, iv posted two tracks up and hav been honest about the eeerrr bit rate lol im sure that the mega-drive has gt an 8 bit sound processor in it anyway lol, and the GB probs gt a 4bit
